September 2026 sees the start of the new season of Scottish Country Dancing.
Our classes run from early September when beginners and experienced dancers start together at 7.30pm in the Waltham Village Hall. The sessions run from 7.30pm - 9.30 pm every Thursday ,there is ample parking for all. The first session is free.
It is an excellent way to stay fit, and exercise the mind as well as the body, while enjoying fun at the same time. Why not come along and try! You do not need a partner or a kilt or a white dress, and there will be plenty experienced dancers to help you begin.
The classes cost £4 per session or £2 if the whole term is paid in advance and include free tea or coffee and biscuits during the interval. New dancers are encouraged to come along at the beginning of September when teaching the basics will take place. As well as weekly classes from September through to May, we hold Annual Dances in November and March with live music and celebrate St Andrews Day and Burns night.
We are always on the lookout for dancers who may have moved to the area or find they have time to dance again, or for beginners to learn and enjoy. Anyone interested should contact John Aitken on 07770 428103 or Sue Ronald on 07380 270955.
We currently run an early Beginners session from 6.45 -7.30 prior to the main evening class. It is aimed at helping beginners and slightly more experienced dancers who wish to practice footwork and formations. It does not run every week as it is also used for experienced dancers when practising for special events notice of any changes will be notified by group e.mail before the session.
We took part in the Waltham Charter Fair on Saturday 12/09/2026, providing a demonstration of Scottish dance as part of showcasing the many activities that take place at the Waltham Village Hall. Audience participation was encouraged by our dancers with a chance to "give it a try"! The whole event was very enjoyable and deemed a great success.
We gave a demonstration at the Gonerby WI on 14/09/2026. It proved very successful with plenty joining in the dancing .
