Welcome

JSeptember 2025 sees the start of the new season of Scottish Country Dancing.  It is an excellent way to stay fit, and exercise the mind as well as the body, while enjoying fun at the same time.  Why not come along and try!  You do not need a partner, a kilt or a white dress, and there will be plenty experienced dancers to help you begin.  You will learn steps and formations used in the many Reels, Jigs and Strathspeys enjoyed around the world.

The group in Waltham meets on Thursdays in Waltham Village Hall from 7.30pm till 9.30pm.  There is ample car parking.  The classes cost £3 and include tea or coffee and biscuits during the interval.  New dancers are encouraged to come along at the beginning of September when teaching the basics will take place.  As well as weekly classes from September through to May, we hold Annual Dances in October and March with live music and celebrate St Andrews Day and Burns Day.

We are always on the lookout for dancers who may have moved to the area or find they have time to dance again, or for beginners to learn and enjoy.  Anyone interested should contact John Aitken on 07770 428103 or Sue Ronald on 07380 270955.
January 2026 saw us celebrating Burns night in the Traditional way with the
piping in of the Haggis followed by an excellent dinner and of course Scottish dancing to round off the evening .
Waltham held its first village Mid-Winter Ceilidh 0n 31st January 2026. It was a joint initiative between the Village Hall and Waltham Scottish Country Dance Group in the hope of encouraging more villagers to utilise the halls facilities and join groups such as ours ; we are always on the lookout for new members.   Live music  was performed by Iain and Russell.. "The Carmichael Duo"..who kept the dancers moving using accordion and drums. Gay Gordons and Dashing White Sergeant were among the many Ceilidh dances performed all were called and enthusiastically enjoyed. The Village Hall provided drinks and hot dogs in the interval then the lively music
continued with more reels and jigs, the fun evening ended with Auld Lang Syne.
Our annual Spring dance was held on Saturday the 14 th of March .It was very well attended with 47 through the door of which 37 were Waltham dancers . Ian Slater was on wonderful form and had everyone dancing or toe tapping throughout. The raffle raised a total of £142 pounds for our chosen charity :- Great Ormond Street Hospital.
there were 21 dances on the programme catering for all levels of dancers . Everyone seemed to have a very enjoyable evening .The group photo is at the bottom of this page .
